Our wedding is at Bastide des Barattes, which is located 10 minutes by car from the village L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. We recommend everyone to find a hotel or airbnb in or near L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, where we will have our welcome dinner.
We highly recommend renting a car so that you can explore Provence and the Luberon region before or after the wedding. We have listed our recommendations in the food & travel section (here's a Google maps link with all food recommendations).
FLY TO MARSEILLE
The nearest airport is Marseille Provence Airport (1 hour by car to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue).
There are no direct flights to Marseille from Stockholm, so you will usually transfer in Brussels, Germany or Amsterdam.
When you arrive, the car rental is right outside the terminal, making pick-up of a rental car very easy. You can also take a taxi to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
FLY TO NICE
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is another travel option. There are direct flights to Nice from Stockholm and London.
You will need to rent a car for this option. The drive from Nice to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is 2,5 hours, so this may be a better option depending on transfer times compared to flying to Marseille. This is also a good options for those wishing to extend their stay in France and spend time on the riviera.
FLY TO PARIS
Flying to Paris may be the best option for our international guests. There are direct flights to Paris from Stockholm, London and New York.
From Paris, you can take the TGV train to Avignon (approx. 3 hours). You will need to arrange for a pick-up from a friend, rent a car in Avignon or take a taxi from Avignon to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue for this option. The drive is about 40 minutes from Avignon to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
We recommend everyone to find a hotel or airbnb in or near L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, where we will have our welcome dinner. It's a very small town. Staying at a hotel or airbnb within walking distance of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue city center will allow you to leave the car for most parts of the weekend (meaning no need for a designated driver!).
Book soon. We recommend booking as soon as you know you're coming. There are plenty of airbnbs which come at a variety of sizes, both in the village and nearby. Hotels in the village are quite expensive and boutique.
Coordinate with friends. A lot of the rentals have great spaces for groups, so get a house for your group to save some money and enjoy the weekend together.
Stay the whole weekend. We know that it's a long trip, but we'd love for you to be there the whole weekend. If you can, book a place from Friday-Monday so that you can enjoy the enire Sunday party with us, and travel home on Monday (or stay in southern France for a nice vacation!)
During peak summer it's a good idea to book in advance and expect longer waiting times than usual. See below alternatives:
Uber
Taxi Matos L’Isle sur la Sorgue – well-rated local taxi service
Taxi Sud Provence – excellent reviews and 24/7 availability
AC TAXI Isle sur la Sorgue – another top local option
PARKING
When driving to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, do not drive into the old town. The roads are so narrow you can get stuck (even though Google maps says it's ok).
This is a good parking spot with lots of space:
