Luberon is known for towns such as Gordes, Bonnieux, Ménerbes, Roussillon and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. The reigion is also famous for wine, lavender and olive gardens. These are our best tips:
Antiques - L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is known for its antique shops and antique market. On Sundays there is an antique market around Avenue des Quatre Otages.
Gordes - Drive to Gordes, rated one of the most beautiful towns in the world! Next to Gordes there is a famous monastery called, Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque, surrounded by lavender fields.
Colorado Provençal - Do a day trip to what's called the French Grand Canyon, Colorado Provençal, an ochre colored canyon.
Chateau-neuf-du-Pape - This renowned wine region is right nearby. Do a wine tasting at a vineyard in Chateau-neuf-du-Pape.
Lavender trail - Le chemin des lavandes in the town of Sault has the most lavender in Procence. This is a wonderful way to explore the lavender in bloom.
Kayak in Verdon Gorge - this is Europe's largest canyon. You can kayak on the river. The river ends in lake Sainte-Croix where you can enjoy a swim in turquoise waters.
Hiking - If you enjoy hiking, don't miss hiking in the Luberon mountains. Luberon is both the name of the region and the mountain ridge.
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue - Explore the village L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, with its many restaurants, boutiques, and historical sites.
